It could have been worse for USC football and senior outside linebacker Porter Gustin. A lot worse.
Gustin has a torn meniscus in his left knee and will undergo surgery, head coach Clay Helton announced after Wednesday’s practice. But the tear is minor and will only keep the linebacker out between two to four weeks, five at the most.
A report from Joey Kaufman of the OC Register on Wednesday morning suggested Gustin could face four to six weeks out, so the prognosis is certainly in USC’s favor, likely to have the senior return in time for the Trojans’ Week 2 matchup with Stanford, if not the season opener against UNLV.
