USC has hired Deland McCullough as its new running backs coach, replacing Tommie Robinson who left for a similar position at LSU last month, it announced Friday.
McCullough, 44, spent the past six seasons at Indiana, where he coached the Hoosiers’ running backs and in addition served as the special teams coordinator for kickoff returns last fall.
He was credited for tutoring three future NFL running backs, Tevin Coleman, Jordan Howard and Stephen Houston, in his tenure there.
Indiana ranked 11th in the Big Ten in rush offense last season (152 yards per game), but finished in the top four of the conference in the previous three seasons.
