First the walk-ons won starting jobs, then they thrived at them, earning Walk-on Player of the Year honors at USC Football’s team awards banquet. Now they’re on scholarship.
Kicker Chase McGrath and punter Reid Budrovich were official awarded full scholarships, USC announced on Thursday afternoon.
Calls for McGrath, a true freshman, to be put on scholarship started soon after the season began. In Week 3, he missed his first ever field goal attempt against Texas, but went on to kick the game-tying field goal in regulation and put the game-winning points on the board in overtime.
Earned it.
