USC completes staff with hiring of line coach Udeze

USC completed its staff of assistant coaches Tuesday with the hiring of former All-America player Kenechi Udeze as defensive line coach.

Udeze, 32, was a three-year starter for the Trojans at defensive end (2001-03) and played on one national championship team before a promising NFL career got cut short.

A first-round pick by Minnesota in 2004, Udeze was diagnosed with leukemia in 2008. He received chemotherapy and a bone-marrow transplant from his brother, and the cancer was declared to be in remission, but the treatment weakened Udeze's feet and he retired in 2009.
