Our tale of two quarterbacks took two interesting turns right out of the gate.
UCLA’s Josh Rosen, the 18-year-old freshman from Manhattan Beach via St. John Bosco High in Bellflower, generated put-the-guy-on-the-Heisman-list gasps in his debut Saturday afternoon against Virginia.
USC’s Jalen Greene, 19, eight months older than Rosen, a redshirt freshman from Serra High who has become a young man for two positions, playing wide receiver as well as quarterback, emerged out of the Trojan shadows Saturday evening against Arkansas State.
Granted, each game had the feel of an NFL preseason opener. But that’s life in college football these days.
