UCLA boosts NCAA tournament hopes while snapping USC win streak

UCLA prevailed over USC 82-79 at Pauley Pavilion on Saturday afternoon, only after Trojans guard Jordan McLaughlin missed a three-pointer in the final seconds.

Bruins center Thomas Welsh was the hero with his team's final five points, including a three-pointer and two free throws with 11 seconds left that gave UCLA's NCAA tournament hopes a much-needed boost.

Welsh finished with 21 points and eight rebounds while Aaron Holiday had 23 points, nine assists and six rebounds for the Bruins (16-7 overall, 7-4 Pac-12 Conference), who stretched their winning streak to three games while ending the Trojans' winning streak at six games.
