The report comes from Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports, who claims that the younger Helton will come on as USC’s quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator.
There had been rumors that Helton was a candidate for USC’s open offensive coordinator position before Tee Martin was promoted from within. Even then, rumblings remained that Helton might be brought in with a co-offensive coordinator status considering Martin’s lack of experience.
Helton started his coaching career in 2000 as a graduate assistant at Hawaii. Since then, he’s had stops in Memphis, UAB and Cincinnati before being named Western Kentucky’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2014.
