Two USC swimmers from Russia implicated in doping scandal appeal to compete at Rio Games

The Olympic future of two USC-based Russian swimmers named in a doping report remains unclear after the sport’s international governing body said Tuesday that a decision on their eligibility for the upcoming Rio Games has not been made.

Vladimir Morozov and Nikita Lobintsev of Trojan Swim Club, familiar faces to aquatics fans in Southern California, face a review by an International Olympic Committee commission, FINA said in a statement.

“Contrary to recent media reports, the eligibility of Russian swimmers Vladimir Morozov and Nikita Lobintsev to compete (in Rio) … has not been confirmed,” FINA announced, adding that other members of the Russian swimming team also face the review.
