LOS ANGELES – For USC basketball this season, the results have been stellar, if not the competition.
The Trojans, who have matched their best 12-game start in the last 40 years, struggled early in the first half Monday against a smaller and less-talented Southern Illinois University Edwardsville team, but pulled away for a 70-51 victory in a nonconference game at Galen Center.
Nikola Jovanovic totaled 21 points and 16 rebounds to lead USC, which is 10-2 for the first time since the 2001-02. The Trojans haven’t had a better start since the 1975-76 team began 11-1. This is also USC’s first 8-0 start at home since 2008.
