LOS ANGELES – USC has more tight ends on its roster now. The Trojans don’t necessarily have more answers.
Through four training camp practices, Coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff are still trying to figure things out at the team’s most uncertain position. Redshirt sophomore Connor Spears, a walk-on who emerged as a contender for the job in spring, has taken most of the first-team reps. Freshmen Tyler Petite has rotated with Spears. Petite is one of five newcomers who joined the team for fall camp.
“Young,” Sarkisian said when asked to assess the tight end position so far.
