There's no mercy rule in college football

The No. 20-ranked USC Trojans travel to Arlington, Texas, to take on the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide at 5 o'clock tonight (nationally televised on ABC). Times reporter Lindsey Thiry and colleagues will be providing coverage of the season-opening game.

The Trojans have so far to go, there's not much else to be written.

The Crimson Tide have rushed for 229 yards and passed for 161 yards. USC has rushed for 43 yards and passed for 105.

Defensively, USC came out strong, but has since blown too many assignments to give itself a chance.
