Steve Sarkisian sues USC for $30 million

Former USC coach Steve Sarkisian has filed a $30 million lawsuit against the university for wrongful termination and failure to help him seek efforts to treat his alcohol-related disability.

Sarkisian filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles, and stated the stress of his job at USC contributed to his alcohol problems.

“USC ignored both its obligations under California law and the commitments it made to Steve Sarkisian,” the lawsuit states.

Sarkisian wants the remainder of his contract ($12.6 million) plus another $17.4 million for mental anguish. He said he was fired via email while on a flight to an alcohol-treatment center.
