After breaking LenDale White’s single-game rushing record against Arizona three weeks ago, Jones eclipsed Charles White’s mark for yards in a season by a freshman today against UCLA.
Jones entered the game needing just 32 yards to tie White, and it took him just six carries.
Charles White set his record of 858 yards by a freshman in 1976 for the Trojans, when he was part of a two-headed backfield with Heisman Trophy runner-up Ricky Bell. White would go on to set the career yardage mark at USC, which still stands today at 6,245 yards.
Going into today’s game with the Bruins, Jones ranked second in the Pac-12 among freshmen with 827 yards to his name.
