PASADENA >> USC beat Penn State, one of the nation’s best second-half teams, at its own game.
The Nittany Lions gave up 17 straight points in the fourth quarter en route to a 52-49 loss to USC in the Rose Bowl on Monday.
Penn State was undefeated (8-0) this season when leading after three quarters and looked primed for another victory after scoring 28 points in the third quarter. However, the Nittany Lions punted three times in the fourth quarter and threw an interception before USC’s Matt Boermeester hit the game-winning 46-yard field goal as time expired.
