MEMPHIS, Tenn. >> Only the few present behind closed doors at North Carolina’s practice on Saturday knew point guard Joel Berry II sprained his right ankle.
Everyone knew he sprained his left ankle five minutes into Sunday’s South Regional Final. It was serious enough to send the junior to the locker room.
It was the second time Berry retreated to the locker room with a sprained ankle this NCAA tournament. He returned to help his team to a win each time.
Berry had 11 points, four rebounds and three assists in 33 minutes in top-seeded North Carolina’s 75-73 win over second-seeded Kentucky on Sunday as the Tarheels advanced to their second straight Final Four.
