NCAA to Ban Hurdling Field Goal Blocks, Bubba Bolden’s Specialty

From Reggie Bush’s iconic leap into the end zone against UCLA in 2005, to Adoree’ Jackson’s viscous kickoff return hurdle to cap off the 2016 season, high-wire acts create some of college football’s most memorable plays.

But don’t expect to see any hurdles on field goal blocks going forward, as the NCAA’s rules committee proposed a full ban on Friday. Here’s the report from the Associated Press:

Hurdling linemen to block kicks became a trend last season as a way to get around a rule already on the books. The leaping foul is meant to keep players jumping to block a field-goal or extra-point attempt from landing on linemen.
