USC Football’s summer recruiting has taken an unexpected turn with the news that five-star quarterback Matt Corral has backed off his pledge to the Trojans.
Tom Loy of 247Sports was the first to report the decommitment. Others have since confirmed the report.
The recent transfer to Long Beach Poly was one of the top prospects in USC’s 2018 recruiting class.
Rated as the No. 2 pro-style quarterback in the class and the No. 17 recruit overall, per the 247Sports composite, Corral was expected to come in and compete for the starting job right away if Sam Darnold were to leave for the NFL after the 2017 season.
