LOS ANGELES – Stanford did it to USC again.
The location changed. The faces changed. The result remained the same.
Just like September 2012, the Cardinal knocked off a top-10 Trojans team in decidedly physical fashion. USC was No.2 in the AP poll then. The scene was Stanford. The Trojans were No.6 Saturday night. The scene shifted to the Coliseum. USC again buckled.
The Trojans could not stop the brutish Cardinal when they needed to, suffering a 41-31 setback in front of 78,306 stunned and silenced fans.
A USC team with national-title aspirations now has to hit the rest button – immediately.
