Last Tuesday, USC athletic director Pat Haden described his vision for the future of Trojans athletics in an open letter to alumni and fans. His words included these:
“We must constantly strive to be the very best and remain committed to the culture of excellence … that we have built at USC.”
Five days later, Haden had to reprimand his highest-paid and highest-profile employee – football coach Steve Sarkisian – for a public display of drunkenness.
Unfortunately, controversy is nothing new to USC athletics, football in particular.
