GULF SHORES, Ala. – The second-seeded USC women’s beach volleyball team (32-2) completed a 3-0 sweep of third-seeded Pepperdine (20-4) to advance to the winner’s bracket semifinal of the first NCAA-sanctioned beach volleyball championships Friday in Gulf Shores, Ala. USC will face top-seeded Florida State (31-1) on Saturday at 1 p.m. PDT (truTV).
USC earned its 28th consecutive win to tie a program record set last season when the Trojans went 28-0 to capture the AVCA title. Florida State was the last team to beat USC, taking a 3-2 decision on March 11 at USC.
Like they did in their first-round sweep of seventh-seeded Georgia State, the Trojans scored points from Courts 1, 3 and 5.
