Justin Davis, Ronald Jones give USC 1-2 punch at running back

LOS ANGELES — Ronald Jones set a USC freshman rushing record last season with a team-high 987 yards.

Neither Reggie Bush, LenDale White, Marcus Allen, Charles White nor anyone else in the decorated lineage ran for so many yards in a debut campaign.

Jones’ 6.45 yards per carry also landed him among the Pac-12’s best.

Entering this season, Coach Clay Helton does not plan to deviate from last season’s backfield roles.

Jones split carries in 2015 with Justin Davis, the experienced and steady senior who will again start.

Davis totaled 169 carries for 902 yards.
