Jaylen Watson has become an official academic casualty from the 2019 USC football recruiting class. The 6-foot-2 cornerback signed with the Trojans back on Signing Day in February, before announcing Friday night he was re-opening his recruitment.
He announced the move on Twitter:
After becoming USC’s defensive backs coach late in the game —and following a 5-7 recruiting hangover— Greg Burns went full guns blazing trying to woo as many unsigned players as he could in February.
Jaylen Watson was one of them. A three-star corner at Ventura College, he was slated to be a junior college transfer with experience that could immediately assist in replenishing the Trojans’ depth.
