A brief look at the Trojans’ training-camp practice on Tuesday at Howard Jones-Brian Kennedy Field:
Big moment
Following a full-pads practice that lasted more than two hours, USC coach Clay Helton kept players on the north side of Howard Jones Field for a series of push-ups, sit-ups and air squats that lasted about 15 minutes. They were not quite finished. Asked what sparked the additional work, Helton said, “Typical with any team at some point in time. You have some team discipline.” Helton declined to offer more specifics. “In-house team discipline,” he said. Helton has not put his team through much post-practice discipline since he was hired.
