Before Clay Helton named the starting quarterback, this summer felt like the most rational for fans. Expectations are even keeled. Fans aren’t expecting a national championship, but also aren’t sharpening their pikes to place Clay Helton’s head on. A solid eight- or nine-win season while contending for the conference championship would be more than acceptable after losing one of the best quarterbacks in USC history.
Then Clay Helton named JT Daniels the starter and all rationality went out the window.
Now it’s playoff or bust. I wouldn’t be surprised if JT for Heisman shirts aren’t being made somewhere in Los Angeles right now.
