Stubbs becomes the second Trojan catcher to win the award, joining Jeff Clement who won in 2005.
What a past couple of weeks that Garrett Stubbs has had. He has been named to numerous first-teams including Baseball America First-Team All-American, Rawlings First-Team All-American, and Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. Stubbs was also recently drafted by the Houston Astros in the eighth round of the 2015 MLB Draft and signed his contract on June 11th.
Last night, Stubbs' season of awards cumulated as he was named the 2015 Johnny Bench Award Winner, which is given to college baseball's best catcher, both offensively and defensively.
