Former USC coach Sarkisian files lawsuit against school, claiming breach of contract and discrimination

Steve Sarkisian, filed by USC in October amid reports of alcohol use, has filed a lawsuit against the school and has claimed the school committed a breach of contract and discriminated against him.

Sarkisian is seeking at least $12.6 million, equal to the amount of money left on his contract when USC fired him on Oct. 12, according a copy of the lawsuit obtained by the Register on Monday morning.

In the lawsuit, Sarkisian’s lawyer said the coach ``pleaded’’ with USC athletic director Pat Haden to give him time away from his job to deal with his addiction to alcohol.
