USC football has hit the bye week with a 3-2 record. Considering the difficulty of their opening slate, that’s not an entirely surprising result.
Unsurprising or not, the first five weeks of the 2019 season have highlighted exactly why the second chance Clay Helton received after going 5-7 in 2018 has already worn thin.

Discipline remains an issue
All offseason Helton flagged improved discipline as one of his main focuses. The Trojans had referees at every practice in Fall and Spring Camp hoping to give players instant feedback on infractions.
