Perhaps those odds listing Utah coach Kyle Whittingham as the leading contender for the USC need to be revised.
Utah lost to USC, 42-24, on Saturday night before 73.435 at the Coliseum and Whittingham’s halo dimmed as the Utes’ undefeated season ran into a team with little pressure and nothing to lose.
Why Whittingham was expected to win this game was always a good question. The oddsmakers never considered making Utah the favorite and the line grew to 6.5 points Saturday.
But if Whittingham really wanted the USC job, he probably took a hit. It might sound simplistic to say Whittingham auditioned for the USC job Saturday night.
