The April 6 strike, using 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles launched from two Navy ships in the Mediterranean, was reported to destroy about 20 Syrian planes at the Shayrat Airbase and kill at least 21 Syrian soldiers and civilians, including children.
Two days earlier, Syrian aircraft taking off from that base are believed to have carried out the bombing and toxic gas attack reported to kill at least 74 people, including children, and injure more than 500 in Khan Shaykhun.
