Despite missing key player, USC beats Yale to remain perfect at home

LOS ANGELES – USC’s basketball players, in the middle of final exams, held a study-hall session Sunday night, shortly after they passed an important on-court test against Yale.

The Trojans played without do-everything guard Julian Jacobs and had to make adjustments, both before the game and during it, and had a solid all-around effort in a 68-56 nonconference victory over the Bulldogs in front of 4,117 at Galen Center.

USC improved to 6-0 at home and 8-2 overall, the Trojans’ best 10-game start to a season since 2000-01, when they went 9-1 (USC also started 8-2 in 2001-02, 2005-06 and 2006-07).
