USC’s fourth consecutive victory over California on Thursday night featured an offensive explosion, as the Trojans gained 629 total yards, the most in a Pac-12 Conference game in four years.
On defense, USC held the high-scoring Golden Bears to a season-low 24 points and 474 yards.
Yet to Coach Clay Helton, the victory felt incomplete.
“The fact of the matter is this isn’t a time to get comfortable or relax,” Helton said during a teleconference with reporters on Friday. “We weren’t perfect in that game.”
The Trojans were mired in other discipline issues.
They committed 13 penalties, the most in a game since 2014.
