De’Anthony Melton got his happy ending on Thursday night as the Rockets made the former Trojan guard their pick in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft.
He is the first player out of USC to be drafted since Nikola Vucevic in 2011.
Draft night sent Melton to Houston after a difficult final few months in college basketball.
The sophomore was on the cusp of stardom with the Trojans after a bright debut season in 2016-17. Coming out of Crespi, he started the final 25 games of his freshman year while posting a stat line to rival Dwayne Wade’s in college: 8.
