USC football missed out on the opportunity to sign Cathedral’s Stephon Wright on Wednesday’s Early Signing Day as the defensive end chose ASU over the Trojans.
The four-star prospect ranks 255th nationally, according to the 247Sports composite, slotting in as the No. 33 player in the state of California for 2019. As such, he represents a major recruiting victory for Herm Edwards and company, dipping into USC’s normally guarded territory for the big man.
When it comes to strongside defensive ends, the 6-foot-3, 260-pound Wright ranks 18th. He would have been a welcome addition to the Trojans defensive line, which could always use more bodies on the end.
