LOS ANGELES – Clay Helton has been consistent throughout his tenure as USC’s interim coach: Although he’d like to have the job on a full-time basis, this isn’t about him.
USC (7-3 overall, 5-2 Pac-12) can win the Pac-12’s South Division by defeating Oregon (7-3, 5-2) on Saturday and UCLA (7-3, 4-3) the week after that. A sweep would look great on Helton’s résumé. But it’s the furthest thing from his mind.
“The last two games are critical to our team,” Helton said Thursday. “I don’t really care about my individual success or what it means.
