LAS VEGAS — Utah had made six shots in a row, but the seventh was off. A 3-point attempt by sophomore guard Sedrick Barefield missed as time expired, and fifth-seeded Cal held on for a 78-75 victory on Thursday in a Pac-12 Tournament quarterfinal.
The fourth-seeded Utes trailed by as many as 11 points with 2:17 left before mounting a late comeback.
When Kyle Kuzma hit a 3-pointer with nine seconds left, they had narrowed the Golden Bears’ lead to only one. Jabari Bird hit a pair of free throws with five seconds left before Barefield’s wild miss at the buzzer.
