After a tumultuous time leading USC’s athletic department, Lynn Swann has stepped down as USC’s athletic director. Swann, a pro football hall of famer, played for USC in the 70’s, winning a national championship in 1972.
Swann was hired in 2016. At the time, USC was facing the Steve Sarkisian sage, in which the head coach of the football team was alleged to have been inebriated during games and team meetings. Pat Haden, who was USC’s athletic director at the time, reportedly had knowledge of this and Sarkisian’s alcohol issues, so Lynn Swann was tapped to lead USC’s program from scandal.
