In the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs selected USC Trojans power forward Chimezie Metu with the 49th overall pick.
Obviously with the Kawhi Leonard conundrum, the Spurs were looking for young forward help. Add in the fact that Paul Gasol is in the later years of his career and the pick makes plenty of sense for the Spurs.
Metu will be another tool in the Spurs roster to pair with All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge, giving added rim help with the Metu draft. Last season, USC was guided through plenty of controversy on and off the court, leaning heavily on the young star to bail out the Trojans.
