The UNLV women’s tennis team defeated rival San Diego State on Friday with a final score of 4-3, launching them to 10-5 overall and 2-0 against Mountain West opponents. The Aztecs, on the other hand, fell to 8-9 on the season and 0-1 in the standings.
SDSU opened the competition with a 1-0 lead from victories in two of three doubles matches. The Rebels stepped up in the singles competition by taking four of six matches, which was exactly what they needed to earn the overall team victory.
Izumi Asano, En-Pei Huang, Jovana Kenic and Juliet Zhang secured victories in the singles competition for UNLV, while Aiwen Zhu and Huang teamed up to defeat SDSU 6-1 in their doubles match.
