Just a couple of days removed from flirting with history, the UNLV Rebels nearly had some history set against them.
UNLV was thrashed 11-5 by the Grand Canyon University Antelopes as one of their hitters came up just short of hitting for the cycle.
Though the Rebels scored first, the game quickly made a turn for the worse.
In the bottom of the third inning off UNLV starter Troy Balko, GCU scored four runs on five hits for the Lopes. By the end of the frame, the Rebels trailed 5-2. He finished with three innings pitched, surrendering five runs on seven hits while striking out three batters.
