Junior guard Daquan Cook has been suspended from the UNLV basketball team after being arrested for driving under the influence Sunday in Las Vegas.
Cook, a reserve who was expected to get little playing time, is suspended for at least the 13-game nonconference season. His status will be re-evaluated before Mountain West play begins Dec. 30.
“Daquan made a mistake and takes responsibility for it,” coach Dave Rice said in a news release issued by the school. “He understands at UNLV there are consequences. We are disappointed in his actions, but we are committed to giving him the support he needs to have the opportunity to move forward and learn from this.
