UNLV men’s golf shot a combined 50 under par, 12 strokes better than the second place Arizona State, to win the National Invitational Tournament at the Omni Tucson National’s Catalina Course in Tucson, Arizona Monday.
UNLV was able to rebound from their second place finish in the same tournament last year, truming 16 other teams, to finally bring the NIT trophy back to the desert.
UNLV’s team displayed consistent, efficient play throughout the tournament. Of the 92 golfers competing, UNLV had all five team members finish in the top 12 and senior leader Shintaro Ban placed first overall, finishing the three round tournament 16 strokes under par with round scores of 68-65-67.
