UNLV Football Coach Sanchez Hires Two New Coaches

With the construction of the new Fertitta Football Complex set to begin, head coach Tony Sanchez is bringing in new leadership.

Al Simmons and Tim Skipper were hired Monday, Jan. 22 according to unlvrebels.com. Simmons will coach the safeties unit while Skipper will perform double duty as linebackers coach and defensive coordinator.

Simmons has been coaching since 1986 and has both collegiate and professional experience. His last taste of the National Football League was in 2004 as defensive backs coach for the San Francisco 49ers.

His last coaching tenure was still in the Mountain West Conference at New Mexico, where he was the cornerbacks coach from 2015 until last season.
