UNLV is working hard to recruit a quarterback, with offers out to at least two junior college QBs and one in high school.
One of those, Johnny Stanton of Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, Calif., is one of 10 junior college players making official visits to UNLV this weekend.
There is familiarity between Stanton and part of the Rebels' coaching staff. He was at Nebraska for two seasons before transferring to Saddleback. UNLV offensive coordinator Barney Cotton and offensive line coach John Garrison were on the Cornhuskers' staff.
Stanton (6-foot-2, 230 pounds) completed 63.4 percent of his passes this season at Saddleback for 3,168 yards and 25 touchdowns, with 10 interceptions.
