It was about this time last year that Tony Sanchez and his staff were trying to figure out how to defend quarterback Josh Rosen, in a late-September matchup of two prep powers.
Sanchez and Bishop Gorman found a way, jumping on St. John Bosco early and surviving late to win 34-31.
Now Rosen is back with another Southern California power — 13th-ranked UCLA visits UNLV at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Sam Boyd Stadium — and Sanchez and his staff again are trying to figure out how to defend him.
Rosen is one year removed from high school, but he's a star in the making who already is garnering Heisman Trophy consideration after a sensational debut.
