For the second time in two weeks, the University of Nevada Board of Regents approved a prospective UNLV basketball coach’s contract.
They voted 12-1 on Friday morning for Marvin Menzies’ five-year deal. He is scheduled to make at least $700,000 annually the next three seasons and a minimum of $800,000 over the final two years of the contract.
Menzies, 54, was hired after nine seasons at New Mexico State. He went 198-111 and appeared in the NCAA Tournament five times. The Aggies have won five consecutive Western Athletic Conference regular-season or tournament titles.
Now Menzies takes over a UNLV team in rebuilding mode.
