RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Patrick McCaw scored 17 points and Ben Carter added 15 as UNLV held off a second-half rally to defeat UC Riverside 73-62 at SRC Arena.
Derrick Jones Jr. added 12 points for the Rebels (8-2). Jones put on a show in the first half with four dunks and a 3-pointer. Ike Nwamu finished with 11 points. McCaw’s totals included eight rebounds and seven steals.
The Highlanders (5-4) sliced an 18-point deficit to 54-52 on Taylor Johns’ layup with 7:55 remaining. McCaw scored the next five points to help the Rebels keep their distance.
Johns scored 17 of his 21 points in the second half.
