Sophomore Sofia Carnevale and senior Myka Fielding competed for UNLV at the 2018 NCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships in Columbus, Ohio on March 16. Though neither athlete placed high in their rankings, they still made it to the championships — a high accomplishment for both the Rebels and the athletes.
Carnevale finished in 34th place out of 48 swimmers in the 100-breast with a time of 1:00.74.
“Sofia had a solid, if not spectacular, preliminary swim. I think it is so important to be at this meet as she looks ahead to the next two years; there is no better experience to accelerate her long-term development than being here,” head coach Ben Loorz said.
