UNLV’s indoor season for the track & field program came to an end with freshman Avi’Tal Perteete’s 15th place standing in the 800 meter at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Texas March 9-10.
She earned the Rebels the 2018 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-American Second Team honors, marking the second year in a row the Rebels took home the award. Destiny Smith-Barnett earned the title in 2017.
Perteete is the third-fastest freshman in the 800 meter for this season, breaking UNLV history.
“I’m extremely proud of Avi. This young lady is one of the best runners in the nation and that is something she has earned,” track & field assistant coach Jebreh Harris said.
