The 2017 season proved to be tough for the Rebels’ softball team. Their final record finished below .500 after a late season eight-game losing streak took their record from 23-19 to 25-27. It marked the sixth straight losing season for the Rebels, as the team failed to secure a birth into the NCAA Division I College World Series.2018 however, may bring a brighter outlook. The team hired a new coach, Kristie Fox. Fox was on a pair of Arizona Wildcat teams that won back-to-back championships in 2006 and 2007. In the 2007 series, Fox broke a College World Series record with 11 hits recorded.
