The news that they’d play South Florida, the second ranked team they’d face in three days, elicited cheers from the Lady Rebels in the locker room Tuesday.
But despite their initial excitement, the Lady Rebels had a tough time keeping up with the nation’s 21st-ranked team a day later, losing 77-42 in the final day of the Play4Kay Shootout at T-Mobile Arena.
The Bulls went on a 12-0 run over the last 4:45 of the game and sent the Lady Rebels to their biggest loss of the season.
“I think today we were a bit slower than we wanted to be and I think that definitely hurt us,” Dakota Gonzalez, who led the Lady Rebels with 12 points, said.
